Definition

Tooth sensitivity is the conditions where the tooth has exposed root areas and usually occurs when the enamel is thinner. 57% of all population have this problem.

Signs & Symptoms

If you feel a tingle whenever you eat or drink acidic, cold, sweet or hot items, it means that you have tooth sensitivity problems.

Cause

Tooth sensitivity has some common causes such as tooth erosion, weak tooth enamel, gum recession and other such oral problems.

Diagnosis

The dentists will recommend you to follow strict oral hygiene to ensure that the gums stay healthy. The dentists also recommend the patients to brush correctly as incorrect or harsh brushing can damage the enamel.

Prevention

Tooth Sensitivity can be prevented by brushing twice a day properly along with flossing. This habit will reduce the chance of experiencing tooth sensitivity conditions. Not only that but you must also take a diet plan that does not include any acidic food or drinks.

Treatment

A dentist would recommend you to prefer fluoride toothpaste regularly to suppress the sensitivity factor and also protect the teeth from decay problems. The dentists would also ask you to give up on sugary drinks and foods during the treatment process.
